Thailand: Combining Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the Islands
2 min read

Thailand does three things brilliantly: lively cities, northern culture and tropical islands. With the right order, you can do all three in about ten days.
Start in Bangkok
Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the river, then eat your way through street markets in the evening. Two to three days is enough for first-timers.
Head north to Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is slower and cooler, with temples, night markets and cooking classes. Choose an ethical elephant sanctuary if you want wildlife encounters, and look for places that do not offer rides.
Finish on the coast
Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui each have a different feel. The Andaman side (Phuket, Krabi) and the Gulf side (Samui) have different best months, so pick based on when you are travelling.
- Domestic flights between these regions are short and frequent.
- Cooler, drier months from roughly November to February are popular.
- Check visa rules for Indian passport holders before you travel. Rules, entry requirements, weather and prices change, so confirm the latest details with official sources before you book.
