The Andaman Islands combine some of India's best beaches with excellent snorkelling and diving. Most trips use Port Blair as a base and visit Havelock and Neil by ferry.
Port Blair
The capital has the Cellular Jail, whose light and sound show tells the story of its history, and is a practical base for flights and ferries.
Havelock and Neil
Havelock is the most developed, with well-known beaches and dive operators. Neil is quieter and ideal for slow days and sunsets.
Plan around the ferries
Ferry timings and sea conditions can change, so keep a buffer before flights home. Book popular ferries and dive sessions in advance during peak season.
- The dry season, roughly October to May, is the most popular.
- Carry some cash; connectivity and ATMs can be limited.
